Located in the heart of a historic New England village, The Kent Collection offers a personalized, luxurious, welcoming experience for a wide range of stays. Whether you’re planning a quick escape for two, a graduation celebration, or a reunion for the entire family, we are a hospitality boutique with beautifully appointed spaces to suit any need.
Our founders
In the fall of 2020, Lulu McPhee saw a need for welcoming, luxurious lodging in the Litchfield County area. Together with her husband, John – an active real estate investor for 35 years – and son, Andrew, they acquired three small buildings, now known as The Garden Cottages, located in the center of Kent. When a nearby Victorian home became available, they purchased it, did a full renovation, and transformed it into a luxurious inn. The Kent Collection was completed when The McPhees’ acquired The Starbuck Inn – now The Firefly Inn – upon Peter Starbuck’s retirement from the cozy bed and breakfast he’d run for 20 years.
About our properties
The Firefly Inn, The Victorian, and The Garden Cottages are inviting, countryside escapes. All fully renovated in 2022, the furnishings and finishes are new, but the structures are historic, inviting, and filled with New England charm.
